“The human body is the best picture of human soul.”
                                                                             Ludwig Wittgenstein

Whenever you see a man the first impression you have is absolutely based on their appearance. And that’s natural and we can’t avoid it. We do judge from the person’s look and usually that judgment differs from the real one. The words somebody says, the voice, the facial expression, the behavior, the way of talking, the gestures everything can be fine and express only good attitude to the listener and to the surroundings but the inner intentions and thoughts are not always that excellent. That’s why I don’t agree with Ludwig Wittgenstein’s quotation “the human body is the best picture of human soul”. Here I’d say that the human body is rather delusive picture of the human soul.
There are many samples in our everyday life and in world literature which can serve as the good proves of it. For instance, Dorian Grey, the character from the famous and my favorite novel by Oscar Wilde. As we know the boy looked fantastic and was really handsome. He got a really great power – his beauty due to which he could manipulate the people and get everything he wanted. But his soul was far from being beautiful. Dorian’s inner world was perfectly shown as the reflection on the ugly portrait. The people adored him and only those who got acquainted closer with him condemned the moment they had done it. All those disgusting things we do in our lives aren’t just passing by, they do leave the trails. I believe in the existing of boomerang principle. Whenever you offend or cheat on somebody, be careful, because they can offend or cheat on you.
The point is that we should be sincere, more thoughtful and honest to each other. However this task is not the easy one.=)
Nowadays there are a lot of so called “Dorians” whose bodies are not the best pictures of their souls, unfortunately.

How to be a good complainant=)

HOW TO COMPLAIN???=)

Having read the title you may say…what??? Is she crazy??? That the easiest thing in the world=))
But when we are talking about a letter of complaint as one of the kinds of business correspondence, you should be very very careful. The point is that there are several rules you must know to achieve your goals: to get a refund or to return a defective product.

So, lucky you are!!! I'm here to help=)
REMMEMBER…to focus on the very problem and to leave out emotions.
  1. Find out the right person who has power to help you with your problem. Contact the consumer affairs office and get the correct person's name along with his or her title and proper adress.
  2. Then write a letter. The most difficult part=)
  • Include your name, address, and home and work phone numbers.
  • Type your letter if possible. If it is handwritten, make sure it is neat and easy to read.
  • Make your letter brief? laconic and stick to the point. Include all important facts about your purchase, including the date and place where you made the purchase and any information you can give about the product or service such as specific type of service.
  • State exactly what you want to be done about the problem and how long you are willing to wait to get it resolved.
  • Include all documents regarding your problem. Be sure to send COPIES, not originals.
  • Keep a copy of the letter for your records.

that definately tastes good...enrich your vocabulary=)

So today we will talk about expressions that use vegetables and fruits.
For example, a cucumber is a long, green vegetable that people often eat in salads.  You might say a person is as cool as a cucumber if he never seems to worry about anything and stays calm in a stressful situation.  If you put a cucumber in a solution of vinegar and spices for a long time, it becomes a pickle.  But if you are in a pickle, you are in trouble or a difficult situation.
If two people are very similar, you might say they are like two peas in a pod.
There are several expressions about beans.  If someone is very energetic, you might say she is full of beans. If you say something does not amount to a hill of beans, you mean it is of little importance.  I might say you don’t know beans about a subject if you do not know anything at all about it.  But if you spill the beans, you tell something that was supposed to be a secret.

Students often have to take a difficult test to gain entrance to a special school.  So you could say the ones who are chosen are the best ones, or the cream of the crop.
There is an old saying that forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest. That means some people get pleasure from doing something that they are not supposed to do.
Bananas are a popular fruit to eat.  But if you go bananas, you are wild with excitement or worry.

Finally, let us talk about lemons.  Lemons have a sour taste if you eat them plain.  But lemons make a nice drink when you mix their juice with sugar and water.  So here is an expression about lemons that we like: If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. This means you should always try to make the best of a bad situation.

The Washington Post is generally regarded as one of the leading daily American newspaper. The Post is the fifth American newspaper by circulation. It is also the oldest and still-existing paper. The Washington Post was established in 1877 and since that time it acquired the domestic and international prestige. This is the newspaper with the great past, dynamic development and prospective future.
The most notable incident in the Washington Post's history happened in the 1970s, reporters Bob Woodword and Carl Bernstein did the American media's investigation that became known as the Watergate scandle. The newspaper's reporting greatly contributed to the resignation of U.S. President Richard Nixon.
The newspaper is also known as the namesake of "The Washington Post March. The march was composed by John Phillip Sousa.
The Washington Post is very famous for its political reporting on the working of the White House, Congress, and other aspects of the U.S. government. It’s reporting is always thorough and accurate. The printings include the main section containing the 1-st page, national and international news, business news, a great variety of editorials and opinions, the section of local news, a lot features written on sports, culture, fashion, gossip, Health&Science technology, Kid’s section, horoscope, TV listings, weather forecast and the like. i've done it=))

Finally, I finished the book by Sophie Kinsella “Remember me?”. And it’s really an addictive read.
I proceed with my reading and found out that the main character Lexi was getting into trouble. First of all she couldn’t remember anything. She didn’t know why her best friends were at odds with her and how it happened that she was a ‘bitch-boss-from-hell’. And also she nearly lost her job, because her department wasn’t that prosperous anymore. Lexi was really petrified of it, she was totally at loss and, furthermore, her husband, Eric, didn’t even tried to understand her, he was interested only in his job. And then she met Jon, who was her husband’s right-hand man. Jon was very kind and careful person. She couldn’t understand it, but she felt that he was really close to her. He told her that he loved her and that they had committed adultery. At first Lexi didn’t believe it, but then she realized that Jon really knew all the detail of her life, not only of her missed years but also some facts from her childhood. He was the one who told how she had become so successful. It all began after her father’s funerals. Her father was a squander and mortgaged all their property. Lexi realized she was the one, who must have done something to improve the situation. She pulled herself together and took part at one talk-show, where she acquainted with Eric. Her life changed abruptly. After this all she knew that she had to do something to remain her friends’ positions. And actually she managed to do this in very tricky way. The life was getting better and better. Lexi made up her mind and said Eric she didn’t love him and it seemed that she never did. And at that moment she sighed with great relief. She made up with the girls and they set up their own business. And she would feel brilliant…but something was disturbing her all the time. She still didn’t remember anything, but deep inside, at the bottom of her heart she was in love with Jon. And then before Christmas, like in fairytale, she remembered a tune. And somehow she knew that the tune was connected with Jon…with the most perfect weekend in her life…then phoned him and the new life began…the life for them both…actually the most lovely period of all her life.
